Scan to BIM Services

Point cloud to model conversion for renovation, retrofit and existing-conditions work, so new design coordinates against what's actually there.

The Problem

What goes wrong without it

  • Existing drawings don't reflect what was actually installed decades ago.
  • Renovation design based on outdated record drawings clashes with as-built conditions on site.
  • Point cloud data sits unused because nobody's converting it into a coordinatable model.
Our Solution

How OmegaBIM approaches it

We convert your point cloud into a modelled federation of existing MEPF conditions, so new design work can be coordinated against reality rather than an outdated record drawing.

Workflow

The same four-stage delivery model, applied to scan to bim.

01

Point Cloud Review

Scan data reviewed for coverage, quality and registration accuracy.

02

Existing Conditions Modelling

Existing MEPF systems modelled from the point cloud to the required LOD.

03

Verification

Modelled geometry checked back against the scan for accuracy.

04

Handover

Existing-conditions model delivered ready for new design coordination.

Frequently asked

What scan formats do you accept?

+

Standard point cloud formats (e.g. .rcp/.rcs, .e57) exported from your laser scanning provider.

What LOD do existing-conditions models get delivered to?

+

Typically LOD 300, sufficient for coordination against new design — LOD 400 is available where the renovation scope calls for it.

Do you provide the scanning, or just the modelling?

+

Modelling from your existing point cloud data — scanning itself sits with your field survey provider.
